A deep, arch-shaped niche in the wall, divided into two parts by a horizontal band of brick — both plastered smooth in pale yellow, while the entire surrounding wall has already been stripped down to bare brick for restoration work. In the lower part of the niche, a small pile of broken tile fragments has been left. To the right, next to it, is a real wooden window with a partly broken pane.
According to information provided by the estate's owners, this niche is not simply a hollow in the wall, but the spot where a statue once stood: the horizontal band of brick partway up the niche most likely marks the height of its former pedestal. Elsewhere in this building, over the past decades, real windows were eliminated entirely as well — bricked or plastered over so that a smooth wall now stands where an opening used to be. In this way, the building carries losses of two opposite kinds: in one place an opening that once held something has vanished, in another the opening remains, but what once stood inside it is gone.
As in the other exhibits in this series, the animation only shifts the camera barely perceptibly — the frame is already real and in colour, requiring no further processing.
