In a corner, through an opening punched in the ceiling, a metal spiral staircase painted mustard yellow winds directly up into the tower overhead. Beside it, stone steps lead to another, dark room; a small niche in the wall, blackened to the point of soot, matches the ones already seen in exhibits No. 84 and 95; and several blue room numbers appear on the walls: a boxed "2", and circled "9" and "36".
This industrial-design metal spiral staircase is of an entirely different character from the ornate stone staircase with wrought-iron railings already seen leading up the tower (exhibits No. 91–96): it is a later, Soviet-era addition, a quick, space-saving way to reach the tower, installed after the building had been adapted for factory use. In this way, one and the same room brings together two completely different solutions, from two different eras, for reaching the very same tower.
As in the other exhibits in this series, the animation only shifts the camera barely perceptibly — the frame is already real and in colour.
