This wood engraving is a work by the artist Zamarajev, capturing the gates of the Lentvaris manor in 1887: two brick, spire-topped towers linked by a pointed arch and ornate Gothic tracery, statues of saints above, and — crowning the arch itself, on a pedestal — a sculpture of a horse. This engraving is part of the same publication as another palace view elsewhere in this exhibition: both sheets carry the same reference, "Patrz N. 1134", and their print numbers run consecutively — showing that the gates and the palace were once published side by side, in the same album. Today these exceptionally beautiful gates no longer stand — they have not survived — making this old engraving one of the few surviving records of how they actually looked.
