Another side of the palace – a polygonal bay projecting from the wall, its own small pointed roof section and four brick chimneys visible behind it. In the second-floor windows, above the pointed-arch frames, empty openings covered with paper or cloth can be seen, torn and hanging in places. In front stands a wire-mesh fence, with tall, unmown grass right up against the wall.
This photograph shows the same condition of the palace at the time of acquisition already seen in the preceding exhibits — only this time from a completely different side of the building. Wherever one looks, the story is the same: bay-window details once carefully crafted by the architects now stand grimy, and the materials covering the windows are crumbling from age and damp.
The animation here is the boldest in the whole series — the camera moves quickly straight toward one window, until its torn, yellowed covering fills the entire frame, letting you see exactly what small details make up the overall picture of neglect.
