The same heap of stones whose interior we see in exhibit No. 59 — this time from outside, from the path. Beneath the stone arch, on the stepped rocks, two figures (one a grown man, the other younger, in a cap and shorts) grip each other's hand firmly, as if one were helping the other across the slippery stones.
Together with exhibit No. 59, this photograph shows the artificial grotto — one of the decorative features of the landscape park at Lentvaris designed by Édouard André — from both sides: from within, looking toward the light, and from outside, looking into the dark mouth of the cave.
The animation is restrained — the handshake completes almost imperceptibly, and the figures stay nearly still, as though the moment had been frozen mid-gesture.
