At thirty-nine, Countess Sofija Tiškevičienė sat for an oval-framed chest portrait, taken in 1876 in Vilnius, at Wacław Czyż and Faustyn Łopatyński's photo studio. The photograph belongs to the same album, kept by Kretinga estate employee Stefanija Sofija Šostakaitė-Tiškevičienė, as exhibit No. 45 (her husband Juozapas, photographed that same year, 1876); it is held at the Kretinga Museum (inv. no. KM IF 6943).
At the top of the card, a pencilled note reads: "22 July 1876, received from Her Excellency the Countess" — meaning this portrait reached the album's keeper earlier than her husband's photograph (received that September, see exhibit No. 45). By this time Sofija Horvataitė-Tiškevičienė (1837–1919) was already the mother of eight children — we see her as a young bride in exhibit No. 51, and much older, widowed and in Cannes, in exhibit No. 42.
The animation brings the moment to life with a smile: her reserved, sidelong gaze softens gently, and a warm, almost cheerful smile spreads across the countess's lips.
