This photograph shows three more soldiers posing along the entrance path, the palace façade and tower behind them.
This is another moment from the First World War, when the Imperial Russian army was billeted at the Lentvaris manor palace — the fuller story is told in another exhibit in this show.
The animation shows the soldiers stepping forward, reaching their hands out straight toward the camera as though to snatch it from the photographer — a reminder that photographing soldiers during wartime was not always safe, or allowed.
