Keršytė collection: four people — two men in caps, two women in hats — sitting and standing on the shore in the shade of the trees, with the palace and its tower visible across the lake behind them. This photograph is no accident: the group deliberately sat so that the palace would remain in the background, as the most striking feature of the place. Much as people photograph themselves in front of famous buildings today, the ornate Lentvaris palace was a popular backdrop for keepsake photographs in the early 20th century — for locals and for travellers passing through the Lentvaris railway station alike.
