During the First World War, the Imperial Russian army was billeted at the Lentvaris manor palace — the owner at the time, Vladislovas Tiškevičius, later recalled that the soldiers ruthlessly destroyed what he had not managed to take away. The palace went from a luxurious count's residence to a barracks — just the first stage of the decades-long decline this exhibition's other exhibits also tell.
