This photograph comes from the same restoration project documentation, recording the central risalit of the southeast façade still before 1939: an ornate crowned cartouche is visible at the top of the roof ridge, round medallions, and a Gothic-arched doorway. Shrubs can already be seen growing up against the walls — a sign that the palace stood unmaintained at the time. Published in: Ferguson, D. Comparing this pre-war photograph with another exhibit in this show, which records the palace already in ruins in the second half of the 20th century, shows just how long and gradual the estate's decline was — from a neglected but still elegant façade to total collapse during the Second World War and the Soviet years.
